CERT

Community Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) are voluntary groups made up of local citizens that support basic disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts within their community. The program is supported by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and implemented locally by dedicated volunteers. In western Lane County, our CERT program is overseen by the Western Lane Fire and EMS Authority (WLFEA).

Community emergency response team members play a vital role in disaster response and recovery, assisting first responders by handling a variety of tasks and essential response skills. This support enables first responders to focus on complex and specialized efforts, confident that the local CERT team is managing the foundational tasks.

There are 9 basic required CERT trainings available for free on the FEMA website. These trainings will equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to support first responders in the event of a disaster. If you are interested in getting invovled with our local CERT program, please contact WLFEA at certsvfr@gmail.com or info@wlfea.org.
